Saturday was a busy day! Cindy and I started with some shopping on Michigan Avenue, including a fun appointment at the JCrew Bridal Salon! Cindy looked stunning in so many different wedding gowns, but there was definitely one that stood out! My parents are headed up to check it out in person, and knowing my mom, she’ll be in tears when she sees it on Cindy! Davis met us after our shopping trip for lunch at Billy Goat’s Tavern. Founded back in 1934, Billy Goat’s is famous for its burgers, beer in only two options- light or dark, and of course, the gregarious staff. Don’t even try to order a single cheeseburger because you’ll get 100 reasons why a double is better. Given the entrance of the place, I’m still surprised that I even entered. Once inside, it was a sight to see! After lunch, Cindy and Davis had booked a trip on the boat tour that runs right through downtown Chicago and offers amazing views and stories of the architecture. The weather was quite hot (you may have heard about the Chicago heat wave), but it was such a fun experience. My thanks go to Cindy and Davis for sitting through their 4th boat tour:)
After the boat tour, we walked around more of downtown Chicago including Millienium Park with Cloud Gate (aka the Bean) and the fun fountains. The Bean, a sculpture that weighs over 110 tons, was made using individual steel plates and the smooth surface is a result of thousands of hours of polishing. Hundreds of people were around it taking their photos and admiring the cool reflections on the surface. It was fascinating to see the number of bridal parties that were out taking pictures throughout downtown. We made it home just in time to pack up our picnic baskets for the Indiana Jones film in the park. It was a beautiful night, the weather cooled off, and our picnic was perfect! Love life in the city!
