We started our day with a ferry ride across the lake to the center of Geneva. Along the lake, we had great views of Jet d’Eau, a Geneva landmark and one of the tallest fountains in the world shooting water over 140 meters high. We spent the day touring the Olde Town and shops along the city center. One very cool stop along the way was the North Tower of St. Peter’s Cathedral. After the winding tower of steps, it offered amazing views of the city and Lake Geneva, which is huge by the way! We stopped for a hot chocolate at an outside café, probably the best ever (Geneva is famous for their chocolates). Great way to warm up to the 30 degree temps outside! From there, we made our trip to get our ski rentals for skiing tomorrow. It’s kinda funny because once we rented the skis, we toted them all over the city with us just for ease of not having to go back home. We started by renting them at a store in the mall, which was interesting in itself. The front of the store was like a Payless Shoes, and who would have known that they rented skis in the back. Armed with our skis and poles, we got on the bus to the airport to rent a car. It became a joke of where would our skis escort us next. That evening, we had dinner at Le Relais de L’Entrecote, a popular Geneva restaurant where steak and fries is the only thing on the menu; well, they don’t really even have a menu. The only question you’re asked when you sit down is, “How would you like your meat cooked?” It was delicious! After dinner, we walked around the city to see the festive Christmas lights, the lake and Geneva at night. With an early ski morning ahead, we started home to pack ski gear and for Ellena to watch her finale of BBC’s version of “Dancing with the Stars”, “Strictly Come Dancing.”
